If there is one scientific topic more polarizing than any other, it’s climate change.
Chances are, if you’re a conservative, you’re skeptical of climate change and you read Watts up with that. If you lean to the left, you probably believe that climate change is real and serious, and you get your science news from Mother Jones.
What few people on either side of this issue do, however, is really dive into the science of climate, put their biases aside and follow the evidence as best as they can.
Today, I want to try do just that. My guest is Dr. Scott Denning. Scott is a professor of atmospheric sciences at Colorado State University, where he also earned his Ph.D. in the subject.
His research interests include Atmosphere-biosphere interactions, the Global carbon cycle, Land-surface climate, remote sensing and data assimilation. He does a lot of outreach about climate change and takes special delight in engaging hostile audiences.
On this episode of the show, Scott and I discuss what experts know about climate change, "selling" science to the public and his experience as a speaker at The Heartland Institute.
